International Education
Be sure to utilize the insights of the International Education Center (IEC) when looking into grant programs that have an international focus. The director, Dr. Jon Stauff, may be aware of some sources of funding that are not “available to the naked eye” and has experience working with international partner institutions – both our “official partners” and schools that might want to become partners with RU.
Whether you simply want to do something “international” but simply don’t have the contacts, or you have the contacts, but don’t know where to start in articulating the benefits of the international connection for your students, departments, or project, the International Education Center can be of service to you in the following ways:
- By introducing you to what’s already happening on campus on the international front and perhaps identify colleagues who have been involved in successful projects, or colleagues who also have similar or related ideas about international ventures.
- By identifying current and prospective international partners where there might be a match. For example, “sustainability” is a hot topic at the moment, and our French partners at Blaise Pascal University are equally enthusiastic about sustainability—and the French government provides money to promote U.S.-French partnerships.
- By explaining what steps need to be taken to establish institutional partnerships with overseas universities, and what services we provide to prepare faculty and students for mobility between institutions.
- By helping you to articulate the outcomes to maximize the international connection and justify the presence of students and/or faculty abroad.
- By assisting you in identifying other institutions in the U.S. with an interest in your topics. (Some grants demand a US “consortium” of two or more institutions in the U.S.)
Please consider contacting the International Education Center to start a dialogue about your international interests!
